Luke 19:41-48
As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, "If
you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it
is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will
build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.
44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls.
They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time
of God's coming to you." 45 Then he entered the temple area and began driving
out those who were selling. 46 "It is written," he said to them, " 'My house
will be a house of prayer'; but you have made it 'a den of robbers." 47 Every
day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the
law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. 48 Yet they could
not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.

1 Corinthians 10:6-13
Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil
things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is
written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan
revelry." 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in
one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9 We should not test the Lord, as
some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some of
them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. 11 These things happened to
them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the
fulfillment of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be
careful that you don't fall! 13 No temptation has seized you except what is
common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what
you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that
you can stand up under it.

Matthew 7:15-23
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them.
Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise every
good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree
cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that
does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their
fruit you will recognize them. 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,'
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who
is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many
miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me,
you evildoers!'

Romans 6:19-23
I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as
you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to
ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness
leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the
control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the
things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you
have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap
leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is
death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 4:18-19
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon
called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for
they were fishermen. 19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you
fishers of men."

Luke 6:36-42
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 37 "Do not judge, and you will not
be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will
be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down,
shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the
measure you use, it will be measured to you." 39 He also told them this parable:
"Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 A
student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like
his teacher. 41 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye
and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your
brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself
fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out
of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your
brother's eye.

1 Peter 5:6-11
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up
in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be
self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith,
because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same
kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal
glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore
you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and
ever. Amen.

Luke 14:16-24
Jesus replied: "A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many
guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had
been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.' 18 "But they all alike began
to make excuses. The first said, 'I have just bought a field, and I must go and
see it. Please excuse me.' 19 "Another said, 'I have just bought five yoke of
oxen, and I'm on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.' 20"Still another
said, 'I just got married, so I can't come.' 21 "The servant came back and
reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and
ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and
bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.' 22 " 'Sir,' the
servant said, 'what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.' 23
"Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and
make them come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of
those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.' "

1 John 4:16-21
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives
in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete
among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this
world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out
fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made
perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 If anyone says, "I
love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his
brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21 And he has
given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

John 3:1-15
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish
ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a
teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you
are doing if God were not with him." 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the
truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." 4 "How can a
man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second
time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the
truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the
Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7
You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind
blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it
comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." 9
"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. 10 "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus,
"and do you not understand these things? 11 I tell you the truth, we speak of
what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not
accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not
believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has
ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be
lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I

will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

John 15:21-16:4
They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One
who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty
of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates me
hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did,
they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet
they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written
in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.' 26 "When the Counselor comes, whom
I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the
Father, he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have
been with me from the beginning. 1"All this I have told you so that you will not
go astray. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming
when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. 3 They
will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told
you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you. I did
not tell you this at first because I was with you.

Mark 16:14-20
Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for
their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him
after he had risen. 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the
good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,
but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will
accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will
speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when
they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their
hands on sick people, and they will get well." 19 After the Lord Jesus had
spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with
them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Mark 10:13-16
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the
disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to
them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who
will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." 16
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

John 16:5-15
"Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you
going?' 6 Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7 But I
tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away,
the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When
he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness
and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10 in regard
to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no
longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now
stands condemned. 12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now
bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all
truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he
will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from
what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is
mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it
known to you.

1 Peter 2:11-20
Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from
sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the
pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds
and glorify God on the day he visits us. 13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's
sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the
supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who
do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God's will that by
doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16 Live as free
men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of
God. 17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear
God, honor the king. 18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all
respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who
are harsh. 19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust
suffering because he is conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you
receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing
good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

John 10:11-16
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees
the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the
flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares
nothing for the sheep. 14 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep
know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my
life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must
bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock
and one shepherd.
April 15th - 1 John 5:4-12
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has
overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only
he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6 This is the one who came by
water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and
blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7
For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the
three are in agreement. 9 We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is
greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10
Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone
who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not
believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the
testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who
has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
April 8th Easter Day - 1 Corinthians 15:19-28
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all
men. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of
those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the
resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so
in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the
firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will
come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed
all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his
enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he
"has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been
put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put
everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be
made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

Numbers 21:4-9
They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom.
But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against
Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert?
There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!" 6 Then
the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many
Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke
against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away
from us." So Moses prayed for the people. 8 The LORD said to Moses, "Make a
snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." 9
So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was
bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.

Exodus 12:3-13
Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man
is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is
too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor,
having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine
the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The
animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them
from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the
month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at
twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and
tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night
they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and
bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but
roast it over the fire—head, legs and inner parts. 10 Do not leave any of it
till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you
are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet
and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover. 12 "On
that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn—both
men and animals—and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the
LORD. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when
I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when
I strike Egypt.

Matthew 21:1-9
As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus
sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at
once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and
bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs
them, and he will send them right away." 4 This took place to fulfill what was
spoken through the prophet: 5 "Say to the Daughter of Zion, 'See, your king
comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.' "
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the
donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them. 8 A
very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from
the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and
those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who
comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest!"

Hebrews 9:11-15
When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he
went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that
is to say, not a part of this creation. 12 He did not enter by means of the
blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by
his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 The blood of goats and
bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean
sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14 How much more, then, will the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to
God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve
the living God! 15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant,
that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that
he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first
covenant.

Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that

they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick. 3 Then Jesus went up
on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4 The Jewish Passover Feast
was near. 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he
said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" 6 He asked
this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7
Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each
one to have a bite!" 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother,
spoke up, 9 "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but
how far will they go among so many?" 10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down."
There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five
thousand of them. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to
those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the
pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." 13 So they gathered them and
filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by
those who had eaten. 14 After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did,
they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."
15J esus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force,
withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of

immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper

joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can
be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with
empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are

Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send

to the lost sheep of Israel." 25 The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord,
help me!" she said. 26 He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread
and toss it to their dogs." 27 "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the
crumbs that fall from their masters' table." 28 Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you
have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from
that very hour.

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests

they counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16 From then on Judas watched for
an opportunity to hand him over.
When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized
with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the
elders. 4 "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What
is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility." 5 So Judas threw the
money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against
her mother-in-law – 36 a man's enemies will be the members of his own
household.'
February 11th - Luke
8:4-15
While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town
after town, he told this parable: 5 "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he
was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the
birds of the air ate it up. 6 Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants
withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which
grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It
came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown." When he said
this, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." 9 His disciples
asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, "The knowledge of the secrets of
the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so
that, " 'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not
understand. 11 "This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and
takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be
saved. 13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they
hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of
testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who
hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and
pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those
with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering
produce a crop.

1 Corinthians 9:24-10:5
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we
do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a
man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat
my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself
will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 For I do not want you to be ignorant
of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that
they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the
cloud and in the sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the
same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied
them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of
them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.

January 28th - Matthew
17:1-9
After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James,
and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured
before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the
light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with
Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish,
I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." 5
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the
cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to
him!" 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground,
terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. "Get up," he said. "Don't be
afraid." 8 When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. 9 As they were
coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, "Don't tell anyone what you
have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."

Matthew 2:13-18
13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get
up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there
until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." 14 So
he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15
where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had
said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son." 16 When Herod realized
that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to
kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and
under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what
was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:18 "A voice is heard in
Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing
to be comforted, because they are no more.”

Romans 12:6-16
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is
prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7 If it is serving, let
him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8 if it is encouraging, let him
encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give
generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing
mercy, let him do it cheerfully. 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil;
cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one
another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual
fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful
in prayer. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. 14
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who
rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not
be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be
conceited.

Romans 12:1-5
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as
living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of
worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.3 For by the
grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly
than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance
with the measure of faith God has given you. 4 Just as each of us has one body
with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in
Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

New Year's Eve -
Psalm 90
Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. 2
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 3 You turn men back to dust,
saying, "Return to dust, O sons of men." 4 For a thousand years in your sight
are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. 5 You sweep
men away in the sleep of death; they are like the new grass of the morning- 6
though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered. 7 We
are consumed by your anger and terrified by your indignation. 8 You have set our
iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. 9 All our
days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan. 10 The length
of our days is seventy years—or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span
is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. 11 Who knows
the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you.
12 Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13
Relent, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants. 14
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and
be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble. 16 May your deeds be shown to your
servants, your splendor to their children. 17 May the favor of the Lord our God
rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of
our hands.

Luke 2:33-40
The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 Then
Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to
cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be
spoken against, 35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a
sword will pierce your own soul too." 36 There was also a prophetess, Anna, the
daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with
her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she
was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting
and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God
and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of
Jerusalem. 39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of
the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the
child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God
was upon him.
December 25th - Luke
2:25-32
Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He
was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
26
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not
die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27 Moved by the
Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child
Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,
28 Simeon took
him in his arms and praised God, saying:
29 "Sovereign Lord, as you have
promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have
prepared in the sight of all people,
32 a light for revelation to the
Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
December 24th - Isaiah
40:1-9
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and
proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been
paid for, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins.
3
A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD make
straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. 4
Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough
ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5
And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see
it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." 6 A voice
says, "Cry out." And I said, "What shall I cry?" "All men are like grass, and
all their glory is like the flowers of the field. 7
The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on
them. Surely the people are grass. 8
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."
9 You who bring good tidings to
Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to
Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it
up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"
December 17th - Haggai
2:1-9
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through
the prophet Haggai: 2 "Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,
to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest and to the remnant of the people
Ask them, 3 'who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory?
How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing? 4 But
now be strong, O Zerubbabel,' Declares the LORD. 'Be strong O Joshua son of
Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong all you people of the land,'
declares the LORD, 'and work. For I am with you,' declares the LORD
Almighty. 5 'This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt.
And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear' 6 "This is what the LORD
Almighty says: 'In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and
the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and the desired
of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,' says the LORD
Almighty. 8 'The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD
Almighty. 9 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of
the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant
peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."
December 13th - Luke 2:19
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
December 10th -
Isaiah 2:2-5
In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief
among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will
stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us
His ways, so that we may walk in His paths." The law will go out from
Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords
into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take
up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 5 Come, O house of
Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
December 6th -
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and
hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
December 3rd - Jeremiah 31:31-34
"The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with
the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 32 It will not be like the
covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them
out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,"
declares the LORD. 33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel
after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and
write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know
the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the
greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and
will remember their sins no more."

November 26th - 1 Thessalonians
5:1-11
Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you
know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them
suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and the will not escape. 4 But
you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a
thief. 5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not
belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others,,
who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep,
sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we
belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a
breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us
to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He
died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with
Him. 11 Therefore encourage on another and build each other up, just as in fact
you are doing.
November 23rd - Psalm 144:13-15
13 Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will
increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields; 14 our oxen will draw
heavy loads. 15 Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the
people whose God is the Lord.
November 19th - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.
November 12th - Philippians 1:3-11
3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you,
I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the
first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in
you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. 7 It is right
for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for
whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share
in God's grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the
affections of Christ Jesus. 9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound
more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to
discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the
glory and praise of God.
